Biographical Information: Theresa Neumann, pictured here in 1935, was born on good Friday in 1898 in Northern Bavaria. At the age of 20 she was in an accident and became blind and paralysed. She received a miraculous healing in 1923 through prayers to St. Therese of Lisieux. Since this time Theresa has not eaten any foods or liquids except for one small consecrated wafer a day. [Her total fast lasted from the age of twenty-five until her passing away, thirty-nine years later] Stigmata, or sacred wounds of Christ, began to appear on her head, breast, hands and feet every Friday while she experiences the passion of Christ… Theresa Neumann (aged 54 in that year of 1952) first noted her unusual ability after seven years of illnesses that had confined her to bed. In March 1926, she experienced for the first time open wounds on the back of each hand and on the instep of each foot. 1 From that time, the wounds opened every Friday, bleeding profusely on each occasion. It was claimed that she abstained from both food and drink during this unthinkably long period and, furthermore, has experienced bi-location, the ability to discern genuine relics, and the presence of her guardian angel. 2 On Good Friday of each year, she bleeds from her hands, feet, side, eyes, head and shoulder as she experiences the passion and death of Christ in a religious ecstasy. 3  Doctors were allowed to examine her thoroughly during her trances and periods of unconsciousness, and testified that her wounds bore a strong resemblance to those of St Francis, especially those on the hands and feet which gave the impression of having been pierced by a forged iron nail. Although the attitude of the church authorities was reserved, the village of Konnersreuth became a place of pilgrimage, curiosity seekers and miracle hunters poured in to view the phenomenon and to listen to Theresa speaking in Aramaic, a Semitic language spoken by Christ. 4 Throughout the 36 years that Theresa bore the stigmata, thousands of tourists would file into her small cottage to witness the miracle. 5 During her thirty-five years fast, doctors kept Theresa under strict surveillance and subjected her to long periods of medical scrutiny. They testified that to the best of their knowledge nothing was ingested other than the wafer and wine of the Holy Communion, and that her excreta ceased completely after 1930, her intestinal tract having withered away. By 1951 Theresa's phenomenon had diminished, and in the last five years of her life although she continued to have visions and ecstasies she faded into obscurity, dying of malnutrition in 1962. 6

The Messages

 

 

 

 

 

Vision, March 4, 1926:  Therese experienced for the first time a vision, where Jesus appeared in the Garden of Gethsemani on the Mount of Olives. Since that time, the visions continued until her death on September 18, 1962…During Lent 1926, the contents of her visions was the Passion of Christ. Later, she witnessed also other parts of the Gospel (e.g. Christmas), of the Acts of the Apostles (e.g. Pentecost), of the Book of Revelation (Apocalypse) and parts of the life of Saints.

 

Stigmata, March, 1926: At the same time Theresa had a vision of Jesus praying on the Mount of Olives, a great pressure crushed her breast and she felt something hot running down her left side of her body. It was blood. It came from a wound in her left side. She was very frightened that she had acquired a new illness so she decided not to tell her parents. Then, the following Friday, she had a vision of the scourging of Our Lord and the wound began to bleed again. On Good Friday wounds opened on the backs of her hands and on the tops of her feet. Father Naber was summoned to administer the last sacraments, because everyone thought she was dying. The bleeding stopped after a while but the scabs that formed refused to heal. It was in 1927 that they went completely through her hands and feet. Then scabs formed also on the palms of her hands and bottoms of her feet.

 

Our Lord, Lent, 1926: “You must suffer more and cooperate with priests for the salvation of souls.”

 

Vision November 1, 1928: In the early morning at 6 o'clock, Therese is allowed to look into Heaven. In the first picture she sees the Saviour, surrounded by Mary, Joseph, the Apostles, the 24 elders, the 7 Archangels and a crowd of other angels. In a second picture she sees the Saviour among the virginal souls (author's remark: those are priests, members of religious orders, virgins), and in a third picture the Saviour among the remaining Saints. She recognizes several, whom she has seen in visions or has known herself while living on earth….All appear as pure, bright beings; besides the Saviour she sees two having a transfigurated body, Mary and Elija. She is so captivated by what she sees, that she longed for death

 

Our Lord, undated, 1936: “The provocations have in these days attained their height. The furies of hell rage now. The chastizement of God is inevitable. Every future petition to help them, spare them, displeases Me. If you petition Me for the conversion of dying sinners in their last hour, I will hear you. No! do not petition me to prevent the chastizement. Until now victims (many of whom have existed in many parishes) have offered their merits to expiate for the crimes of mankind, which held back the wrath of God, but now their expiations are not enough and the chastizement is now certain and unpreventable. It will happen suddenly. Fortunate are those who are already in their graves. I have warned them and have postponed, as I did with Sodom., but Sodom would not listen to Me, nor do the people listen to Me nowadays, nor heed My warnings, therefore they will experience the sad experience of My wrath which they deserve. “

 

Our Lord, undated: "My dear Child, I wish to teach you to receive My Blessing with fervor. Realize that something vast takes place when you receive the Blessing of my Priest. The Blessing is an outpouring of My Divine holiness. Open your soul and let it become holy through the Blessing. The Blessing is a heavenly dew for the soul, through which all that is done can be made fruitful….Through the power to bless, I have given the priest the power to open the treasury of My Heart and to pour out from It the 'rain' of graces on souls. When the priest blesses, I bless. Then a vast stream of graces from My Sacred Heart flows into a soul to its fullest capacity. By recollection, keep your heart open, in order not to lose the benefit of the Blessing. Through My Blessing, you receive the grace to love, strength to endure suffering, and assistance for body and soul.

 

Our Lord, undated: "My holy Blessing contains all help for the necessities of mankind. Through the Blessing you are given the strength and desire to seek good, to shun evil, and to enjoy the protection of My children against the powers of darkness. It is a great privilege when you are permitted to receive the Blessing. You cannot comprehend how much mercy I extend through it to you. Therefore, never receive the Blessing in a  matter-of-fact or thoughtless way. As poor as you are before receiving the Blessing, you are rich after receiving it.  I regret that the Blessing of the Church is so little prized and so seldom received. Your good will is strengthened through the Blessing, your undertakings receive My special Providence, your weakness is overcome by my power, your thoughts and intentions are spiritualized, and all bad influences neutralized…I have given My Blessing vast power. It proceeds from the unending love of My Sacred Heart. The greater the zeal with which the Blessing is given and received, the greater its efficacy. Whether a child is blessed or the whole world simultaneously, the Blessing is far greater than a thousand worlds. Reflect that God is immense - infinitely immense. How small are all things in comparison to Him! It is all the same whether one or many receive the Blessing. This does not matter, for I give to each according to the measure of his or her confidence (or faith). Since I am infinitely rich in all good, you are permitted to receive without measure. You cannot hope too much from my Blessing; all will exceed your fondest expectations.  "My child, protect all that give Blessings. Esteem highly what has been blessed; then you will please Me, your God. As often as you are blessed, you are united closer to Me, sanctified anew, healed with, and protected with the love of My Sacred Heart.

 

Our Lord undated: "Often I keep hidden the workings of My Blessing so that it is known only in eternity. Often it appears that Blessings have no results. But wonderful are the workings of the Blessing - even the seemingly fruitless results are a blessing in disguise through the holy Blessing. These are often mysteries of My Providence, which I do not wish to manifest.  "My Blessings often produce effects unknown to the soul. Therefore, have great confidence in this outpouring of My Sacred Heart, and reflect earnestly on this favor to you (that the apparent results are hidden from you)…Receive the holy Blessing sincerely, for the graces of the Blessing find entrance only into a humble heart. Receive it with a good will and with the intention to become better; then will the Blessing penetrate to the depths of your heart and will produce its effects. Be a child of the Blessing; then you yourself will be a Blessing for others."

 

Theresa, undated: When asked if America will experience war on its soil, "No, but at the end of this century America will be destroyed economically by a series of natural disasters."
