“Many priests have lost their fervour for the honour of God and the salvation of souls. Their hearts hang too much on the phantoms of this life. God will, by chastisements cure them thereof and so thereby change them. In many religious houses the spirit of poverty and simplicity is forgotten. They look only for convenience, they carry a scandalous splendour to satisfy their pride, therefore must God, through a salutary remedy restore the true religious spirit. It is indeed a sad thing to see religious houses desecrated, but it will be necessary in order to eradicate pride and worldly luxuries and to bring all things back to simplicity. After God has purified the world, faith and peace will return. Whole nations will adhere to the teachings of the Catholic

Church…” 1
