Maria Esperanza Betania, Venezuela 1976 -2004 (Mother of Reconciliation of all People)

Maria Esperanza was born in the village of San Rafael, Barrancas, Monagas State, Venezuela on November 22nd 1928. She had her first mystical experience at the age of 5 with the apparition of St. Theresa The Little Flower, who from the waters of the Orinoco rive threw her a red rose. At 12 she became sick with an acute bronchial-pneumonia but after having a vision where she saw Our Lady of The Valley, Patroness of Margarita Island, she recovered miraculously. During her adolescence, Maria Esperanza’s health was frail and her heart grew weaker and weaker. Later on the onset of another illness partially paralysed her. She was told by 22 physicians she had no hope of life. Then she was healed again after The ‘Sacred Heart of Jesus’ appeared to her, and gave her the first of hundreds of messages.

 

Following her profound desire to be a Religious, she lived for a time with The Franciscan Nuns in Merida. On October 3 1954 in The Chapel of the Convent, Maria had a vision of St. Theresa The Little Flower who told her that her Vocation was not to be a Religious, but a spouse and mother, that she would sanctify herself and that she would travel the world. That same day The Sacred Heart of Jesus told her to go to Rome. She lived there with The Sisters of The Ravasco Institute until she married Gio Biachini Giari on December 8th 1956 in the Chapel of The Immaculate Conception in St. Peters Basilica. She has 7 children a boy and 6 girls all married and with children of their own. Beginning with the eldest they are: Maria Inmaculada, Maria Esperanza, Maria Gracia, Giovanni, Maria Coromoto, Maria Auxiliadora, and Maria del Carmen.

 

Maria Esperanza is considered by many, one of the greatest Mystics of these times. In the midst of her household chores as a wife, mother and grandmother to nineteen grandchildren, God continues to bestow upon her extraordinary gifts and charismata: The stigmata, visions of the future or the gift of prophecy, the gift of healing, appearance or “materialization” of a Holy Host in her mouth, emission of scents of flowers and fruits, apparition of rose petals, levitation, bilocation. And maybe one of the most impressive mystical phenomena: The birth of a rose, or a rose which sprouts out spontaneously from her chest, a phenomenon which now has taken place sixteen times. Some claim to see rose petals fall from the sky around her, not just the smell of roses.  Believers by the thousands travel to Venezuela to seek her blessings. She has stigmata - bleeding of the hands. She is a prophet, healer, and can bi-locate (being in 2 places at once).

 

Mrs. Maria Esperanza has received countless messages from Our Lady. [Before Our Blessed Mother appears to Maria a large blue butterfly will often immediately precede her arrival.] At times she receives more than one message per day. Since the beginning, Our Lady has predicted many historic events, wars, and different occurrences which have taken place around the world. Even in such tragic prophecy Mrs. Experanza always delivers her messages with hope. 1

 

It is said that before their first meeting, St Padre Pio had mentioned to friends that he would soon be visited by an extraordinary women. “There is a young woman who is going to come from South America,” he is said to have mentioned. “When I leave, she will be your consolation.”

 

After a long struggle with a Parkinson’s-like condition Maria died in 2004 at the age of 75.  Extensive documentation has been kept for the canonization process. The apparition site of Betania was formally declared authentic in 1987 after the bishop, who was trained as a psychologist, personally investigated and took testimonies from more than 1,000 witnesses. A small grotto and church currently stand at the site, which is about an hour's drive from Caracas and the place of many claimed miracles. Bornn said the family sees Maria's death as a “sign” that may be followed by major events. Esperanza herself had foreseen 2004 as a momentous year and once had commented that a major event would occur after someone loved by many died. 1a

 

 

The Messages and Prophecies

 

 

The First vision March 15, 1976:

Our Lady was bathed in light when she appeared to the seer. P363 “My daughter I have given you my heart. I give it to you. I will be your refuge” Our Lady then gave Maria a mission of service and sacrifice, kindness and fidelity. Then Our Lady said: “I am the Reconciler of all Peoples and Nations” 1b

 

March, 25, 1978:

Our Lady appeared again and then the apparitions became more sporadic and at times were witnessed by others. 1c

 

March 25, 1984:

Our Lady made seven appearances, each lasting 10-15 minutes, except the final apparition lasted one-half hour. It is reported that 108 people, in addition to Maria, saw Our Lady on that day. She appeared as a real person to many witnesses including professional people such as doctors, lawyers, a judge and an army general. Our Lady is described as radiant with light and wearning a blue cincture and resembled Our Lady of Lourdes. She  gave a message “My children, I am Mary, Virgin Mother of Reconciliation of All Peoples and Nations, and I come with my Son in My arms to reconcile you…oh sublime Hope of all. Pray the Rosary.” 1d Our Lady is described as a remarkable formation of luminous fog that took the shape of Our Lady… She was accompanied by a sweet perfume of roses1e. Our Lady told Maria “Humanity was deteriorating due to infiltration of demagoguery, falseness and social injustice.” Maria saw dofficult times ahead and warned that Russia may act “in a surprise way” She received messages of the warning of chastisements. She said justice is coming and a very hard time will come very soon; 1992, 1993, 1994: but it will make us better people. Other phenomena reported included intense aroma of flowers and sound of hymns during the apparitions. During one of the Saturday night vigils very large letters “MI” appeared in the sky. This was photographed and reportedly stands out like a neon sign. It was interpreted to mean “Mary Immaculate” The phenomenon of the large blue butterfly appear and flying around the crowd and returning to the grottowas first witnessed on this occasion1f.

After Maria prophesying that this day would be special over 12,000 people were attracted to the grotto, causing traffic jams. On this day the “large blue butterfly” made its appearance. 1h

About 30 people claimed that they were seeing Our Lady in the grotto. 1i 

 

December 8, 1991

It is reported that the Miracle of the Eucharist took place in Betania on…the feast of the Immaculate Conception. Fr. Otty was celebrating a midnight vigil mass for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. At the time of the Consecration about 15000 people present saw a radiant rose colour light over the Host. None of the people at the altar saw this light. At the time of Communion, Fr.Otty broke the Host in half and broke off a small particle of the Host to be put in the chalice. To his great amazement the remaining portion of the Host from which the particle was taken began to bleed. For three days the Blood on the Host was fluid then it began to dry up. The blood did not seep through the host nor did it stain the opposite side of the Host. 1j

 

Prophecies and Warnings of A Chastizement, undated.

Our Lady told Maria “Mankind was abusing the graces received and is moving toward perdition, and if there is no change or improvement of life, you will succumb under fire, war and deaths. We want to stop the evil that suffocates you, the evil of rebellion and overcome the darkness of oppression by the enemy. That is why, again, in this century, My Son arises…”1k

 

 

The Three Primary Messages of Our Lady1l

 

1. Mission:  “My Children, I call on you this day with the fullness of life to live with a clear conscience the responsibilities of the mission entrusted to you,m with the virtues of faith, hope and charity. I particularly recommend purity of intention, humility and simplicity. The Lord’s laws and doctrines are part of you…the promise to keep the straight road of the innocents”

 

2. Prayer and Conversion: “Our Lady called for: prayer for the Church, priests, conversion of sinners and peace in the world. We are to help those afflicted with evil and “bring them forward to live in healthy environment and in Peace of the Spirit…A great moment is approaching, a great day of light”, said Our Lady.

 

3. Social Justice: Our Lady said that it was important to save God’s children from “the mocking and ridicule of the Pharisees of these apocalyptic times” Our Lady told Maria that economics and material possessions have turned mankind cold and egotistical and that it was deteriorating due to “the infiltrations of demagoguery, falseness and social injustice”

 

 

Maria on the Great Warning to come

 

“There is coming the great moment of a great day of light. The conscience of this beloved people must be violently shaken so they may put their own house in order and offer to Jesus the just reparation for the daily infidelities that are committed…” 2

 

Maria before the 911 tragedy:

 

January 2001 “The United States must be very, very alert…must take care of itself a lot because there is much hatred toward the U.S. right now, so now more than ever the United States must be careful…There are two nations that have their eyes on the U.S. right now. They are not necessarily big nations. One is very smart and powerful and the other is less [so] and these two nations are in accordance and will be allies. They want somehow to upset the United States, to work inside and cause disturbances. They feel they can put the nation in jeopardy working not just from the outside but also from the inside…They have people inside already…” 3

 

In 1992 she had foreseen “two huge towers with black smoke all around them.” 4

 

In 1993 she warned that “Manhattan is at ground zero” and the site of the World Trade Centre bombing would 8 years later become known as “ground zero” 4a

 

In March of 2001 Esperanza prophesied that cloning and other evils would lead to a major world crisis 5

 

March 2000 while she was visiting northern New Jersey -- within 30 miles of New York -- she said she felt something  was going to happen in that area. We thought she might be referring to an earthquake. She warned that evils like cloning would lead to events. 6

 

March 2000 Publicly warned that something “big” was about happen to the U.S. involving foreign interests “on American soil.” 6a

 

May 2000 A couple months after that prediction, at the beginning of summer, Maria told her family that the upheavals in Israel as well as natural stirrings such as the volcanoes (in places like the Philippines and Italy) were “specific signs” that events were intensifying and that in the next several years will join to precipitate a major occurrence of some type. “She sees these as clear signs of an imminent event that will awaken consciences,” Carlos had told us. “Something important will happen very soon. This is all a preparation for a great event that will be sent to show the real meaning of life.” 7

 

August 25th 2001 she prophesied “A great event will be happening in three weeks or three months. As the holy father's condition weakens, the event is for the whole world.” 8

 

She has said that right now heaven is “collecting followers” for a time when “things will start to make more sense and many people will be awakened.” According to Maria, there will soon be some kind of an event or influence in the whole world “to show God's plan.” She has urged prayer to prevent what she sees as looming disasters if humankind doesn't grow closer to God.  “We can stop all that with prayer,” she has said. “With prayer from our hearts this may be stopped.” 9

 

 

Maria on the “War against Terror”

 

Days after the WTC bombings when “Bind Laden” was still a largely unknown name, she said that a “roaring lion” was behind the attacks. It turned out that “osama” means “roaring lion” 9a

 

“If the United States goes to war right now, it will be the worst possible mistake, the greatest mistake, and would be nearly impossible to stop. The U.S. is smart and should wait patiently. War would be imprudent - don't attack.” 10

 

Maria said the United States must turn to what she calls the four “pillars”: prayer, meditation, penance, and the Eucharist. “With that you will be able,” she said, “to win.” 

“Definitely it's going to escalate but at the same time through prayer we can stop a big thing from happening,” she said. “Right now the U.S. has to be very careful and prudent - go little by little.” 11

 

“Prayer is what is going to influence the whole problem,” she said. “From now until 2004, in this period, everything will be resolved. Halfway through 2004 it will look better, but until then we must be careful. God can work miracles.” 12

 

She said that the attacks in New York City and at the Pentagon were allowed by God as “an awakening of conscience” and to strengthen the U.S. spiritually. She said, “Faith will grow.” ”Our Lord is crying out at us for conversions,” she said. “This has been a lesson for the whole world. The faith of people in today's world is too superficial. We must have an open heart to the Lord and His grace, because God now is going to shake the whole world, not only in the U.S.  Not a violent shaking but something that makes people aware of His Presence.” 13

 

When asked if the current crisis was a result of recent decisions on human cloning and related research, she said that was a part of it but the events of September 11 were related to general immorality and spiritual shortcomings. “I know the wound has been very big,” she said, “but now we have to see the situation through God's eyes and ask for forgiveness, for courage, and for the will to pray and do penance and rid ourselves of pride.” Maria said recent physical problems she has been suffering are related to the

current crisis. 14

 

Her concerns continue. She believes we will see difficult trials at least until the second part of 2004 -- when a light from heaven will shine. She sees another earth-shaking event, although this time not “violent.” the world is entering A “New Stage.”  15

 

Maria on Trouble and Chastisement

 

“Even though times look so bad, it is glorious,” Maria said from Caracas through her son-in-law Carlos Marrero Bornn, who serves as an interpreter. “We are going through glorious times. Everything is in God's control. It will make everything better. Many signs are being disclosed. We should be only joyful.” 15

 

There is still the great threat of terrorism, and Israel still bothers Maria -- she has warned that the troubles there could lead to world war -- but according to Bornn, “she feels what is going to come out of it is going to be very good.” 16

 

No matter how serious matters get, purification is meant to cleanse and even then the Blessed Mother, she says, is coming to lighten it. “She comes to give us strength, to resist temptations,” Maria said some years back. “This is why we have sicknesses in these times: because man has abused the things that God has given us. Man is disobeying.”  17

 

Maria on the 911 bombings

 

If the U.S. wants to avoid further disaster, she says, it should place two churches -- not just commercial buildings, not only offices, but two spiritual centre -- at the site of the former World Trade Centre 18

 

When asked if mankind had , learned anything from it “They are heading to the same direction again,” said the mystic, who is associated with the Church-sanctioned apparition site of Betania near Caracas. “They want to go back to what they had. What God wants to be revealed in that place are twin churches. Two churches that resemble the towers but are churches, built there. That’s what God really wants. I know it’s impossible, and it’s a shame, but you never know. God wants two churches, twin churches, to be built there to save the world, because if they do that, if they built them, there would be many souls saved and the world would be saved – if they built two churches in that place.” 19

 

For now, the great mystic says God is “holding back” the arms of terrorists “with His right arm.” She says if we pray and honour Him, “He will stop everything.” Right now He is protecting us, she says, “because of Our Lady. She is involved in many things to defeat the enemy, because this moment needs a lot of peace. Injustice is reigning right now, but Our Lord is fixing everything. Anyone who dares do something, who rises to do evil, will pay the consequences. We must raise our hearts and open our eyes to the infinite, to eternity, and say only, 'My God, my Lord, we're waiting for you!'“ 20

 

Currently, there is too much pride, she warns. There is politics. The consequences of a war with Iraq, she says (as she has in the past), would be “very serious.” “God doesn't want evil or death but unity through love,” she believes. “It would be a crazy thing to do, to attack Iraq, because they will attack and attack and attack, and they are prepared. They are just waiting to respond. They are just waiting for something little to fall upon, the terrorists and Iraq together. Leaders must be humble in heart and very wise, with patience and generosity. We are here in this world to serve – serve, serve, serve, and never get tired of serving. We can never allow ourselves to be provoked; we must always have our minds on Heaven. We have to be balanced. We are here today because God wants us to be here.” 21

 

Will America find itself lessened in the future? Will future events cause the world's remaining superpower to diminish (as a new power, the European Union, rises)? “The U.S. is very smart and intelligent,” she says of a country she dearly loves. “It has many talents. It is a nation that does what is just.” But it is also a nation, she emphasizes, that must go back to God.  “The risk is still there,” she says. “You have to be alert all the time because there may be surprises. The United States must be very careful right now.” 22

 

“What God wants to be revealed in that place are twin churches,” she told Spirit Daily. “Two churches that resemble the towers but are churches, built there. That’s what God really wants. I know it’s impossible, and it’s a shame, but you never know. God wants two churches, twin churches, to be built there to save the world, because if they do that, if they built them, there would be many souls saved and the world would be saved – if they built two churches in that place.” 23

 

Maria on the Second Coming

 

“Jesus is coming. His coming is near. Perhaps I will not live to see this, but the Lord is coming. Little time will pass. It will be in a way never before imagined by man, because the Light of His New Rising will be evident to everyone. Jesus will be felt very clearly in our hearts and you will see Him just as on that great day of His resurrection into Heaven.”  24

 

“It will be very different than what people think,” she told writer Michael H. Brown. “He’s going to come in silence. People will realize He is among us little by little. I’m seeing Him right now. He has His mantle covering His hair. He has a robe like white and black. His first presentation will be like this, because in those days an innocent person whom He loves a lot will die, an innocent person. This will shock the world, will move the world. Many people will believe. He will disappear for some days and appear again.  25

 

“And when He disappears, people will go back again to the mess, to the disordered things. He will bi-locate, He will multiply Himself, to assist everyone, in their homes, because this will be a definite thing. He will come and knock on every door. And then people will realize it is truly Him. He will let Himself be seen for a little while and then will disappear until God decrees what has to be done. And then people will understand what is happening and begin preparing themselves. There is not much time for that. I will say from ten to twenty years. Everything is already in place, in motion. I see palm trees, and they will say again, 'Blessed is He Who comes in the Name of the Lord.' We are being prepared right now. I know what I am saying sounds crazy, but I have to say what I have to say. Sometimes I am like St. Thomas, who has to put his finger in His side.” 26

 

“The same way He resurrected, that is how God is going to appear to you, to me, in that way, the same way as He resurrected, as an apparition. That’s the way He is going to appear, to you, to me, to everyone in that way. He is going to start appearing. He already is among us but is not letting us see Him. With our brains, in this physical reality, we can only see what God wants us to see, but it only needs a little touch from God to open another little door in our brains to see Jesus whenever He wants us to see Him. That’s why I have been saying to be ready, because things are starting to happen.” 27

 

“It is an interpretation. Read Psalm 71. When He comes in glory is the Final Judgment, it is the end of this world. If He comes now, the ones who will receive Him will be the Pope and all the faithful souls in the world, no one else, because they are expecting Him and waiting for Him. We are also waiting...” 28

 

Maria on Purgatory

 

Maria’s Husband Geo recalls that “there have been many visits from the souls in purgatory. I especially remember one occasion when my wife had the experience of going through purgatory.” “This was in 1973,” says Geo. “Our Lord allowed Maria to visit purgatory and it happened in front of a group of people. One of the souls was desperate and grabbed her hand and when Maria came out of purgatory, she found her hand was burned -- like when you get burned by hot water, with like a red spot on her hand that hurt. But in the end it was very beautiful because the soul was saved. This soul told Maria her name, and it turned out to be a Venezuelan girl that our daughter, Maria Coromoto, knew. Maria also saw many other souls who extended their arms asking for help, as if in desperation. This girl had the chance to grab Maria and told her she was from Caracas. ‘Please help me,’ she said, as she grabbed the little finger and palm on my wife’s right hand. 29

 

“Because of that impression, Maria started to pray for her everyday, and one day she felt the soul was released from purgatory. It was very moving. Maria said the soul would give a sign when she was released from purgatory, and the day Maria felt this girl’s release, a tree that was at our house -- like a dry tree, in hibernation -- suddenly bloomed. When Maria saw it, it was filled with white flowers. It had been dry, nearly dead, or hibernating, and now it was blooming! It was a sign from the girl in purgatory. It was beautiful. Real flowers from a dry tree!”  30

 

Esperanza describes purgatory as “exactly the same feeling that you have in a cemetery. That’s the way it looks and the feeling you have when you’re there – the feeling of sadness you get from a cemetery, and of loneliness.” 31

 

“[Such souls] are wandering. They are 'stuck' -- tied to what they left behind. They are wandering around the world without having a place to stay. There have been spirits that came close to Maria, spirits that seemed like they were destroyed, devastated. They had been wandering in like space and as they got closer to Maria, she couldn’t see them as recognizable figures, but as shades, like amorphous forms without shape, and suddenly when Maria started praying for them, these amorphous forms recovered their human form, and thanks to prayer, started to rise to the Light. That’s the way special people from God have the grace to help all those souls without light – lost souls. It’s an important mission – to get close to the Light of God.” 32

 

Although Maria discourages talk about it and answers questions only when pressed, it is alleged that she has also been visited by many heavenly spirits, including St. Peter, St. Therese the Little Flower, St. Ignatius of Loyola, St. Anthony Mary Claret, St. Mother Cabrini, St. John Bosco, St. Mary Mazzarello, St. Francis of Assisi, St. Paul the Apostle, and St. Josemarie Escriva -- the recently canonized Spanish saint. 33

 

“We all pass through purgatory,” she says “In order not to pass through, it is necessary to live a very saintly life. Husbands must love their wives the right way and take care and love in forming the children. Our Lord lives among us. Our Lady lives among us. We don't see them, but we feel them in our hearts. Silence brings to our hearts the recollection and peace to interact with the people we love.” 34

 

Maira on the Destruction of the Church

 

“Unity is urgent, especially among our priests, We have to be more united than ever. This Church is holy, immaculate, perfect, but the men in it can be imperfect, sinners, with weaknesses. Yet no one can destroy it.  But they're going to try to destroy it. They're going to attack the Church, attacking the priests to make them weak. That's why I ask you to pray for the priests. They are sacred. They are the points of light in the world.” 35

 

She speaks of the need for priests to reform themselves: “Confess, Go the Confession. I felt that Mary said this: 'Get prepared.' I don't know what this is. What does this mean? The impression that it gives me is that we all have to be like children. She is going to perform miracles for us and help us if we find comfort in her arms, but we have to pray the holy Rosary.” 36

 

“The holy Rosary is the way, We have to begin to do this so we can overcome negative force that comes near us. Now is the time of meditation, reflection, and especially of union -- true union with her Divine Son.” 37

 

“The heavenly hurricane will come to help the weak ones, a battalion led by St. Michael the Archangel, who will defend you because he will announce the decisive time, and he will be open to listen to the drums, flutes, and bells, able to stand quickly to fight with the prayer of the Magnificat.” 38

 

“Something is coming, the hour of terrible things during which confused humanity will not find refuge in the human earthly heart” 39

 

“Little by little man will begin to understand the order of the mystical world and in this way, everything will become full of green and hope -- with the sweet glance of Mary working through the Holy Spirit, and with the Father Who lives and reigns forever and ever, world without end.” 40

 

Maria on the year 2004

 

When asked…if it was something that would occur in the spiritual realm or here on earth, she told me, “In both. Like parallel. The spiritual and material realms. It's something that cannot be avoided. It cannot be stopped. It is the beginning of something.” Added her husband Geo: “Maria feels there will be a change in people. We will achieve new innocence, a new spiritual state.” 41

 

“It will start from the year 2004 on. It will be the beginning. Rivers of supernatural light are awaiting us -- surprises, beautiful surprises. Each one of us will encounter ourselves, and beautiful ideas will come to our minds, beautiful talents, and more than anything else, we will achieve the simplicity of an innocent child. And that's the most important thing. We will be able to achieve the innocence of a child but with the maturity and knowledge, the wisdom, of an adult.” 42

 

It will be a “new light”, a “new dawn of Jesus” involving “rivers of light” when the world enters a “new stage” 43

 

“When the light arrives it comes with supernatural light and God will allow us to feel His Presence deep in our hearts -- the Divine spark that will awaken our conscience, to help us realize that God is everything and we are nothing without Him,” she said “When we get this light we will be able to feel God in our hearts again. We will feel Him all the time with us.” 43a

 

“It's something that can not be avoided,” she said. “It cannot be stopped. It is the beginning of something.” 43b

 

She predicted that “disturbances in nature” would build until they precipitate into larger ones and a new “awakening” of the world's collective conscience. She said God would “shake” the world, but not as if He is violent. “Even though times look so bad, it is glorious,” she said. “We are going through glorious times. It will make everything better.” 43c

 

Maria on the Future of Technology

 

In 1981 prophesied “You must know that if you obey, the fullness of a wonderful light shall reflect upon you,” she quoted Jesus as saying. “Great luminaries will work lively splendours that you may see next to you, guiding your footsteps because of your love for Me. Great events are near and the next one will shake the world of science.”  44

 

She goes on to describe “A wonderful reality” consisting of “nuclear electronic science, thermonuclear science, and transisto-nuclear science” 45

 

“Electronic computers will [cause] the utmost revolution people could imagine,” 46

 

“This is why the society of the future is called to establish great reforms, so the unbridled whirlpool of mankind may not become unbalanced in trust, so everything will be in order.” 47

 

“It will be the key to nuclear energy, which will be shocked,” she said, quoting the alleged message about a device that she says will eliminate harmful radiation. “Its reactions will grind to a halt, and then the time will come in which it will be used for pacific purposes, for man's well-being and for the probable happiness of better days. This will come about with the sun and with the drive of magnetic forces of earthly energies: volcanic forces, wind, water, certain kinds of seaweed because phosphorus will be better assimilated. In short, no element will be wasted, everything will be used.” 48

 

There will be “amazing devices,” she claims, with far more capacity to diagnose and heal human sickness -- if science and religion join forces in God's plan. One example: a new technology that will allow a powerful new means of illumination, turning dark into day. She foresaw that as tapping into a “stellar curvature.” She also saw forces of light and music combined together in ways that currently are unimaginable. In equally surprising language, she foresaw “the registration of equations to their final expression” and computer devices that will replace many of the functions of a doctor. She describes such inventions as coming from “secret forces” hidden in rhythms of nature and what she calls the “sacred canticles.” 49

 

Esperanza had foreseen the opportunity through that for “universal brotherhood.” “Be courageous,” she claims Christ told her. “Jesus, your instructor, He Who reveals a better tomorrow: my daughter, I love you!” 50

 

“Through Sound Modulation music will transform the rhythm of life making it more enjoyable, more blissful, and will transform everything human beings intend to do into a pleasant activity,” Esperanza long ago had quoted Christ as telling her. “Behold, that Electronics will come afterwards; it will give a giant step towards amazing devices guidelines to the Technological Era.” 51

 

Maria on American Troops Attacking Iraq

 

Given In December 2002:  “It would be a crazy thing to do, to attack Iraq, because they will attack and attack and attack, and they are prepared. They are just waiting to respond. They are just waiting for something little to fall upon, the terrorists and Iraq together. Leaders must be humble in heart and very wise, with patience and generosity. We are here in this world to serve -- serve, serve, serve, and never get tired of serving. We can never allow ourselves to be provoked. We have to be balanced. We must always have our minds on Heaven. We are here today because God wants us to be here. The U.S. is very smart and intelligent. It has many talents. It is a nation that does what is just. But it is also a nation that must go back to God. For now, God is holding back the arms of terrorists with His right Arm. If we pray and honor Him, He will stop everything. Right now He is stopping things because of Our Lady. She is involved in many things to defeat the enemy, and this moment needs a lot of peace. Injustice is reigning right now, but Our Lord is fixing everything. Anyone who dares do something, who rises to do evil, will pay the consequences. Instead we must raise our hearts and open our eyes to the infinite, to eternity, and say only, 'My God, my Lord, we're waiting for you!'“ 52

 

Official Bishops Statement

 

After informing Rome the Bishop declared officially on November 21, 1987 that the apparitions are authentic and supernatual in character. He further adds “I therefore officially approve that the place where they occurred to be considered a sacred place. May it become a place of pilgrimage, a place of prayer, reflection and cult; (it is my wish) that liturgical rites be celebrated there, above all the celebration of Mass and the administration of the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist, in accordance with the laws of the Church and the diocesan norms for overall pastoral ministry…I give thanks to God for the privilege of a vist by the Blessed Virgin according toour diocese and to our country, because is this period of the history of our Church, marked by a new way of evengelization (the visit) invites us to a renewal and deepening of our faith, the living out of our faith in total conversion, prayer and apostolic commitment; because in a divided world Our Lady shows herself as the ‘Reconciler of all peoples’ May Our Lord grant us the same outpouring of the Spirit which He granted Elizabeth when she was visited by Mary” p366
